Dr. Laura Fraint and Associates

Thoughtful and Caring Support for Life’s Inevitable Challenges:

Helping you build a more meaningful and peaceful life

Our approach

We are a group of doctoral-level psychologists and masters-level therapists who provide in- person therapy in Lincoln Square and Northbrook, IL. We also provide online therapy if you live (almost) anywhere in the US. We assist adults, children and families by providing personalized psychotherapy that begins with collaboration and careful listening. We do not use a “one size fits all approach”. We value reflection, depth, human complexity, and relationships. We create a supportive, warm atmosphere to do this very difficult, very meaningful work. It is important that therapy improves the quality of your life and your relationships. We will work with you to see growth and renew hope!

    Laura Fraint, PSY.D

I believe that meaningful therapy can add so much value to one's life by providing relief from suffering, deeper awareness, healthier self esteem, and more fulfilling relationships. I work by helping people understand and express their thoughts and emotions, shift unhelpful patterns, and improve their capacity to cope with challenges. Good therapy can also identify and nurture talents and abilities. I work with people struggling with an array of issues including anxiety, depression, parenting, self-esteem, relationship/marital problems, postpartum adjustment, food allergies and feeling stuck or trapped.

I listen carefully and provide personalized treatment. My style is warm, understanding and thoughtful. I am open and curious, and genuinely enjoy learning from my clients. I love being a psychologist and the opportunity to do such meaningful work every day.

I developed a broad, sophisticated perspective from time at the Erikson Institute. I supervised psychologists there, and currently train therapists at my private practice. Im a psychologist who other therapists see for consultation or for their personal therapy - a therapist's therapist.

    Elizabeth Stoltenberg, LCSW

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with advanced degrees in social work and child development. For over a decade, I’ve worked with individuals, children, and families, bringing a warm, relational, and psychodynamically informed approach to my clinical practice. My work is deeply rooted in attachment-based and trauma-informed therapies, and I have extensive training in modalities such as Child Parent Psychotherapy, DIRFloortime, and Circle of Security.

My clinical perspective is grounded in a strong foundation in early development and family systems, shaped by my background in child development and the arts. I’m especially passionate about supporting parents and caregivers, helping young children manage emotional challenges, and walking alongside individuals as they navigate life transitions and relational struggles. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as a faculty instructor in the Social Work Master’s Program at Erikson Institute, where I teach courses focused on clinical practice and infant and early childhood mental health.

Before becoming a clinician, I spent many years as an arts educator, teaching theatre, playwriting, and inclusive arts programming to young people. That experience continues to inform the way I listen, reflect, and support others in my work. I carry with me a deep respect for the creative process and the emotional complexity that each person brings to therapy.

  • a therapist who helps people with anxiety and depression

    Heather Nyheim, LCSW

For whatever challenge you're facing right now that brings you to therapy, know that it is my first priority for you to feel seen, heard, and understood. From the foundation of a warm and supportive therapeutic environment, we will help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself so that you can better navigate and cope with the challenges you are facing. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic theory, which explores your unconscious processes and past experiences to understand behaviors and emotions. I believe that a deeper self understanding gives us more agency in the present to respond to stressors in new, more helpful ways.

My therapeutic approach has been effective with clients experiencing a broad scope of mental health concerns and life challenges, including depression, anxiety, persistent feelings of low self-worth, relationship issues, family conflict, identity development, and life transitions (including prenatal and postpartum).

If you'd like to build deeper self-understanding to have a sturdy sense of self to face all that life can throw our way, please feel free to reach out to set up time to talk.
